We again secured the Gascoigne suite for our annual branch dinner. Committee members Stephen Gilkes and Janet (Jan) Migliozzi had worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything was arranged and accommodated for over x58 branch members and guests. We welcomed Colonel Bradley Futz of the USMC, who is the Military Attaché at the USA Embassy.
C/Sgt Ian (Smudge) Smith had graciously volunteered to explain the ‘Absent Comrades’ table in his final appearance wearing mess dress after serving a staggering 43 years in our Corps!! He then followed this by being the top notch adjudicator on ‘Port Fines’ throughout the evening BZ Smudge and a massive thank you.
Rad Gorring said Grace and excellent food prepared by the UJC kitchen followed. Loyal toasts were proposed by Graeme Armour and we also remembered with sadness the seven Royal Marines killed in Afghanistan in 2011. ........
