The Return to Zeebrugge 2023

Zeebrugge Weekend - After a gap of three years we enjoyed a very successful remembrance weekend in Zeebrugge (14th – 16th April) with our friends from the Feestcomité. Later in this newsletter you will see a report presented by Robin Hollamby about the trip. Once again we received a very warm welcome from the Ibis Style hotel team, including some Easter chocolate and crisps provided by the Robine, the Hotel Manager, whom is a very good friend of the branch.

Zeebrugge Dover Bell Ringing Ceremony – Sunday the 23rd April the ceremony was attended by 12 members and guests of the branch, where we joined in the laying of a wreath at the St James Cemetery Zeebrugge war memorial. This was followed by a short service where the bell was rung outside the council offices at mid-day. After the formalites were over we moved on to Cullens Yard restaurant, to join 40 members of the Feestcomité for drinks and lunch. Our thanks to Gordon Cowan, the Mayor of Dover, for providing an open bar for all attendees. Your committee took the opportunity to present a memento of our trip to all present in the form of a photo card of all those who attended, along with a 3D statue of the Globe and Laurel. See photo of David Ducoulombier Chairman of the Feestcomité ......
