RMA City of London Branch Summer BBQ – HMS President – Friday 19 September 2025

The Royal Marines Association City of London branch marked the end of summer with a superb evening BBQ on Friday 19th September at HMS President. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Thames and Tower Bridge, it was a memorable gathering that celebrated Corps spirit, camaraderie, and the strength of the branch community.

Members began arriving in the early evening to find HMS President bathed in golden late-summer sunshine. The sun setting behind Tower Bridge offered a spectacular sight, casting long shadows across the river and adding a sense of occasion to the evening.

The turnout was excellent, with a strong showing from the branch. The barbecue offered the perfect chance for members to catch up, share a wet, and enjoy a relaxed, informal setting that still held true to the values of the Corps.

Top marks go to Passion8 for the catering — a hoofing spread of scran that kept plates full and conversations flowing. No one left hungry, and it’s fair to say everyone left suitably fed, watered, and in high spirits.

A heartfelt thank you to Stephen Gilkes, who was instrumental in organising the evening and ensuring everything ran smoothly. His efforts, along with those of the team at HMS President and Passion8, made the event the success it was.

The City of London branch continues to thrive, thanks to strong leadership, regular events, and the shared sense of belonging among its members. Evenings like this remind us that the RMA is more than just a network — it’s a family.
