US Embassy Beer Bash/Pizza & Quiz Night - Thursday 25th Sept

What a great time we had at the US Embassy last Thursday. Following a “summer recess” the Quiz Night was eagerly anticipated by US Embassy regular ‘Quiz’ers’ and their guests and our thanks must go to Lisa Dossey for not only being the ‘perfect host’ and making us feel very welcome, but also generously ensuring we had a variety of pizzas delivered to our team table before we even started!!

There were at least 150 people in teams of 10 competing for the winners (faux) Olympic style awards ceremony and competition was tough and hard fought.

Sadly our team didn’t win but, neither did we come last! I confess we found many of the questions on US General Knowledge quite challenging but, we made up for it on the UK stuff! I mean every self respecting ‘Brit’ knows they put the Clotted Cream on first and the Strawberry jam after on a Cornish Cream Tea.. or is it the other way round..!!!

We made a valiant effort to help drink the bar dry and afterwards, would you ‘Adam & Eve’ it.. Lisa insisted on escorting us all to the bar across the way and bought us all a drink while we tried to work out why we did so badly and whether or not the pizza’s had been ‘spiked’ ?!!

All in all it was a great night and we can’t wait to do it all again and repay her for being a “marvellous and generous host”.. Thank you Liza..
